Now in its’ 57th year, the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra League (DSOL) and its membership of dedicated volunteers has provided support for the financial and educational endeavors of the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra.
The DSOL develops and administers projects, events, and programs that provide music education opportunities to our community and the youth of the Tri-State area, as well as financial support to the DSO and its youth ensembles programs. Since its inception in 1966, the DSOL has contributed well over $1,095,500 to the DSO. Our committed membership has volunteered 227,324 hours in support of the DSO by providing orchestra luncheons, guest artist gift baskets, greeters at the DSO concerts and working at the many events of the DSO and DSOL.
Each year, the League contributes support to youth education events and programs such as the 3rd and 5th grade Arts Trek concerts, the 4th grade Adopt-A-Musician program, the youth Concerto Competition, the Dubuque Symphony Youth Ensembles, and Summer String Camp. Other events sponsored by the League include Sound Bites luncheons & lectures held on the Fridays prior to the Classics concerts; Musical Musings prior to the Sunday concerts; and the Senior Classics program, now in its 13th year, providing performances by DSO musicians to entertain residents and their families at local nursing homes and assisted living centers.
