Hometown: Western Springs IL
Education: BA Luther College, MM Horn Performance DePaul University
My earliest musical memory: My father playing a vinyl of The Flying Dutchman at home.
I knew I would make a career in music when: I first played in Chicago’s Orchestra Hall as a senior in high school. It was both terrifying and exhilarating. That hall is now my second home!
Favorite thing about performing music: Upholding the tradition of classical music, and being its advocate for the newer generation
Favorite composer and/or period: Mahler
Advice for young musicians: Focus on being a great team player and positively encouraging your peers while in an orchestra/group setting. The consequent trust and respect is the recipe to success!
Other instruments I play: Piano
Other than performing music, I’ve always thought it might be fun to be an: interior designer or art restoration specialist
One thing people don’t know about me: I enjoy sewing period costumes
