Bassoonist Cameron Keenan (he/him/his) is a performer and educator active in the Chicago area.
While primarily an orchestral musician, Cameron also enjoys performing in a variety of styles as a chamber musician and soloist, holding a special interest in highlighting works by traditionally underrepresented demographics. As an orchestral musician, he has performed with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, Music of the Baroque, and various other ensembles across Chicagoland and his home state of Indiana. He currently plays 2nd Bassoon with the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra. As an educator, Cameron employs an accessible approach to music-making, emphasizing expression and connection to everyday life and holds a position with DePaul University’s Community Music Division in addition to running a private studio.
Originally from Yorktown, Indiana, Cameron completed his undergraduate degree at Ball State University with Dr. Keith Sweger before moving to Chicago to pursue graduate work under William Buchman, Miles Maner, and Keith Buncke at DePaul University. Outside of music, Cameron is passionate about cats, tutoring mathematics, and all things sci-fi.
