The Dubuque Symphony Orchestra (DSO) is excited to announce that the 2025 Pursuit of the Podium winner is Bob Woodward!
Bob Woodward, after a successful career in retail, software, and market research, rejoined Woodward Communications, Inc. as Vice President of Strategic Planning and Business Development, leading acquisitions, divestitures, and digital innovations. In 2019, he became Vice President of Community Media and Publisher of TH Media, guiding the division through COVID-19 and supply chain challenges. Retiring in 2024, he now focuses on supporting local journalism by promoting news reporting and fundraising for two community journalism funds. His leadership has significantly shaped media innovation and resilience in challenging times.
From February 10 to April 16 Woodward, along with fellow contestants Kevin Dragotto and Wes Hartig, raised money on behalf of the DSO. Woodward raised the most funds and, as a result, will take Maestro Intriligator’s place on the podium to conduct a selection at the orchestra’s Summer Melodies Concert, which will be held at the Alliant Energy Amphitheater, June 29, 2025.
Kara Murphy, Director of Development, emphasized, "The passion shown by this year's Pursuit of the Podium participants to support the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra was inspiring. Their community education efforts and fundraising event contributions will have an immediate impact on our programs."
"I am grateful to all the donors who contributed to the DSO on behalf of Wes, Kevin and me," shares Woodward. "It was exciting to have the three of us set a fundraising record and our donors made it happen. I'm also very excited to be on the podium for a musical piece in June, but the big winners are the Symphony and the community. I'm very happy for both of them!"
Funds generated from Pursuit of the Podium will support the DSO’s overall mission, which is to engage the tri-state community and enrich its quality of life through live musical performances and educational programs. Now in its 66th season, the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra serves more than 25,000 tri-state area residents each year and are proud to present world-class musical experiences for all ages to enjoy.
